The ELCA/Central States Synod

Prince of Peace is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), www.elca.org.
The  ELCA  is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States with  approximately 4.5 million members in more than 10,000 congregations across the fifty states and the Caribbean. The ELCA is known as the church of "God's work. Our hands." The ELCA emphsizes the saving grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ,  unity among Christians, and service in the world. The ELCA's roots are in the writings of the German church reformer, Martin Luther.
Addtionally, the ELCA is divided into 65 synods with Prince of Peace a part of the CENTRAL STATES SYNOD, www.css-elca.org , encompassing Kansas and Missouri.  Each of the ELCA’s synods elects a bishop and other officers. As the synod’s pastor, the bishop oversees the ministry of pastors, additional rostered ministers, and congregations by providing support to congregations and leaders and joins in the celebrations of the congregations.
