COMING UP THIS MONTH:

·                   TIME FOR A “PASS” – SUPER BOWL SUNDAY IS THIS WEEKEND! – This Sunday, February 5, is a day when many of us watch a football being passed, pass judgment on the best commercials, AND pass around lots of food at parties! We invite you to participate in two more “passes” this weekend….throw a super number of coins into the Noisy Offering for Least of These Food Pantry and throw a super number of cans into the narthex shopping cart. Before the quarterback hikes the first ball, let’s tell hunger to “take a hike” and help our neighbors in need.

·  ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: Bible study on Galatians concludes this coming Sunday. Join Chuck Jones in the Ruth Room at 9:30 am. Elaine Huy continues to lead an 8-week Disciple class, "Invitation to the New Testament" at the Gathering Place, also at 9:30 am. February 12 thru March 11, Dr. Austra Reinis will conduct a class entitled "Psalms, Hymns, and Altarpieces: Art and Music in the Reformation." The class will explore the impact of Martin Luther and John Calvin in the areas of religious art, architecture, and music, and will be 9:30-10:30 am in the Fellowship Hall.

·  ‘FOCUS ON FAMILY FINANCES’ WORKSHOPS: Our series of workshops continues next Tuesday, February 7th with:  “From Me to We” – Learning to create a strategy for a shared financial future for newlyweds (or even not-so-newly weds!) and couples (Meal, provided by our Education Team,  is a taco bar!) Also mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 21: “Identity Theft: What You Need to Know” Adults of all ages will learn to recognize how identity theft occurs, tips to protect yourself, and steps to take if it happens to you.  All workshops are offered by representatives from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (and are free of charge!) A simple meal will precede each workshop at 6 pm. See the poster in the narthex for more information about these classes)

·  CROCHET FOR THE LORD! next Tuesday, February 7th, at 6:30 pm Bring a skein of soft yarn and join us in the Library where we will be making prayer shawls! Sue Stelford

·  MOVERS & SHAKERS: next Sunday, February 12th at NOON, we will meet at “Famous Dave’s Barbeque” on S. Campbell Avenue, then progress across the street to the Library Center around 1:30 pm for their Sunday Concert Series beginning at 2 pm, featuring Judy Domeny Bowen, “Folksongs from the Ozarks.” Sign up to go with us on the sign up sheet located in the narthex.

·  TRINITY LUTHERAN 2ND ANNUAL MARDI GRAS BALL:  Friday, February 17th, 6:30-11:00 pm at the Executive ConferenceCenter on 912 W Battlefield Street. Proceeds will benefit the Ozark Honors Flight (flights which take war heroes to see their WWII memorial in Washington D.C.) Due to limited space, advanced tickets are recommended and will be available beginning Sunday, February 5th. 1 ticket for $20; 2 tickets for $35; group of 8 tickets for $100 and students with college I.D. for $10 and can be purchased at Trinity Lutheran Church office: 866-5878.  Email reservations to ZLYoung@aol.com.
