Reaching out to our community in
innovative and meaningful ways is the goal of this
dedicated and creative team. From "Pet Blessings" to the
"Community Corn Feed" we are continually looking for
ways to invite the community to Prince of Peace Lutheran
Church, and to share with them the Good News of Jesus
Christ. Visit the Outreach Team page to find out more
information about this ministry, or contact Jim Smith,
Team Leader. "But how are they to call on him in whom
they have not believed? And how are they to believe in
him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to
hear without someone preaching? And how are they to
preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How
beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good
news!"" Romans 10: 14-15

Outreach Team
Our
Outreach Team's focus is evangelism, which is a
Greek word meaning "good news". The word has the
same root as angels, messengers who announce
good news.
To be about the task of evangelism is to
announce the Good News of Jesus through word and
deed. One of our Outreach Team goals is to
encourage members of Prince of Peace Lutheran
Church to become stronger and more vibrant
witnesses to the love of God made known in Jesus
Christ. We encourage our members to do the
following:
Become an ambassador of Christ, Sunday through
Saturday
Share the good news of Jesus Christ during
one-to-one conversations in daily life
Invite family, friends and acquaintances to
learn more about God's love
Invite people to join our congregation for
worship, study, fellowship, and service
Witness to Jesus by living a compassionate,
gracious and loving life
Welcome guests who come to church activities
Encourage each other to grow in faith
One of the ways that we help our members to
practice evangelism is by providing special
events to invite friends and family to attend.
Some of the events we have sponsored or used for
outreach are:
Blessing of the Animals
The Blessing of the Animals Ceremony has it's
root in the Catholic church, and was begun in
honor of St Francis of Assissi, recognizing his
special love of animals.
It's no surprise that the Blessing of the
Animals Ceremony that we offer here at Prince of
Lutheran Church is a tremendous success. Pets
are an important part of many people's lives,
offering unconditional love, companionship, and
enjoyment to millions of Americans each year. We
want to recognize the importance that animals
have in people's lives by giving pet owners an
opportunity to receive a special blessing for
their furred, scaled or feathered friends. What
better place is there to celebrate the bond of
creation than at church? Anyone in the community
is invited to attend this special ceremony.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is an annual outreach
event at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church,
providing an opportunity to reach unchurched
children in our community. Although planned and
conducted by the Christian Education Team,
providing funding for flyers and advertisement
is part of the Outreach Team's mission. Vacation
Bible School is usually held in June or July,
from 9 -noon for the duration of one week. Our
VBS is set up in a workshop rotation model
style, where children of various age groups
rotate between several fun and exciting classes.
Children participate in many classes such as
music, art, storytelling, and outdoor
activities, all while learning about Jesus.

Christian Education Team Leader, to find out

A Prayer for Outreach
By your Word, O God, we have come to faith in
Jesus Christ. You have given us a life and
message to share with others, through the power
of the Holy Spirit. May we be bold disciples and
share your good news with the words of our
mouths and the works of our lives. Give us
courage to go into your world to tell of the
wonders of Christ's love and grace.
We pray for those who do not know you; may they
come to know you. We pray for those who are not
part of your church; may they find in it your
presence. We pray for people who consider the
message of the Gospel to be neither good nor
new; may their hearts be open to your word. We
pray for our children and for those who are
young in faith; may they continue to grow in
your truth. We pray for ourselves; may we
continue to have the strength and conviction to
be your people of hope.
Almighty God, you have sent Jesus Christ to
reconcile the world to you. We thank and praise
you for this mission. We pray that as members of
your church we may carry on your work for the
sake of the world. Make us confident and hopeful
in your Word through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen reprinted fromEvangelism
